Dr Sandra Fielden receives Emerald Outstanding Service Award for Gender in Management: An International Journal
United Kingdom, July 2010 – Emerald Group Publishing Limited has presented Dr Sandra Fielden of the Manchester Business School with an Outstanding Service Award in recognition of her contribution to the success of Gender in Management: An International Journal. During her ten-year tenure as editor, Dr Fielden has guided the journal through several major phases of development.
Dr Fielden began editing the journal in 2000 when it was published as Women in Management Review. In recent years she has significantly broadened the editorial remit of the journal in response to the emergence of the gender field as an area of academic study. Under her guidance the journal has evolved from a title publishing around women's issues to one covering all academic disciplines concerning gender-based issues in management.
As a result of the development work, the journal was retitled Gender in Management: An International Journal in 2008. Currently, it is a highly respected academic title occupying a place at the forefront of gender-based research in management and attracting international contributions.
Dr Fielden comments, "I am delighted to receive this award. It has been quite a journey with all of the changes that have taken place but I have been privileged to work with an outstanding research community. It has been a pleasure to work on the Journal for the last 10 years and I hope that the journey continues for some time to come."
In 2010 the journal is celebrating its 25th year of publication with a series of both retrospective and invited articles from leading researchers in the gender field. An anniversary reception is scheduled at this year’s British Academy of Management Conference held in Sheffield, UK, from 14-16 September 2010.
