Annie Mauger to take up role in November

CILIP is pleased to announce that Annie Mauger will be the new Chief Executive.

Annie has worked in a variety of management roles in England and Scotland, most recently as Acting Chief Executive for Bradford Action for Refugees. Previously she has worked as a consultant to charities and public sector bodies on governance, change management, organisational development and libraries. She held the post of Chief Executive of the Museums, Libraries and Archives (MLA) Yorkshire until its closure and was Head of Libraries and Heritage for the City of York Council.

With a post graduate diploma in librarianship and an MBA, Annie has promoted the role of the profession as chair of the both the Scottish and National CILIP Community Services Group as well as serving on CILIP’s Audit Panel. In addition, Annie has also been an executive member of the Society of Chief Librarians.

Annie looks forward to bringing her experience as a passionate advocate to CILIP:

“I am utterly thrilled to have been chosen for this exciting and challenging role. To be able to lead the organisation that supports and promotes the committed, clever, innovative and hard working people who deliver library and information services across all sectors is a huge honour and a great responsibility. It is so important that CILIP has a strong and independent voice to represent all members and promote their role in addressing information and literacy inequalities.”

Nigel Macartney, Leader of the CILIP Council and Chair of the Appointment Panel says, “Annie’s experience as a senior library and information professional and as one who has worked, and led, across sector boundaries for the MLA makes her an ideal appointment."

Annie will start her role on 1 November, following Bob McKee’s retirement in October 2010.
