Collecting and collating events listings too manpower intensive? –
UK DataPoint builds the UK’s most comprehensive events database
LONDON 9th March 2006 – UKDataPoint Ltd (www.ukdatapoint.com) today launched UKDATAPOINT EVENTS DATABASE. UKDataPoint will collate data from all entertainment venues, production companies and attractions across the entire UK. UKDataPoint Ltd is part of the Science Navigation Group of independent companies that collaborate closely with each other to publish and develop information and services for professional and consumer markets.
Details of venues, events and performances will be collected to form the UK’s most comprehensive entertainment listings database. All listings are either submitted free of charge from event organisers and venues or proactively collated by UKDatapoint researchers. The database will cover all categories of entertainment from film show times to live music gigs; from club nights to operatic performances; from dance ensembles to comedy stand-up, theatre plays and exhibitions in galleries and museums.
Permanent tourist attractions such as historic buildings, gardens and amusement parks will be included in the biggest database of things to do and places to visit. Detailed information will include opening times, admission prices, special events and locations.
UK DataPoint will provide the entertainment listings through a range of media for publication. The event and what’s on guides will be available to the local and national press, to specialist activity and regional guides and magazines. UKDataPoint will use cutting edge technology to provide daily, electronic deliveries to national and regional press and allowing venues to promote their events to the widest possible audience on the web. It will also be available to be used in a searchable format to related web sites.
UK DataPoint will use proprietary technologies to ‘geocode’ entertainment venues and events. This allows regional press publishers to receive a bespoke feed of event listings information dedicated to their area. UKDataPoint provides information on the closest club or bar with live music; to the art gallery of your choice or cultural attractions close by.
